On Wednesday, October 5 there were presentations from scientists and medical professionals on the health effects of EMF, cell phone research, microwave radiation on the heart, wireless safety standards, and smart meters.

Devra Davis, Ph.D. (Executive Director of Environmental Health Trust and author of Disconnect The Truth about Cell Phone Radiation, What the Industry Has Done to Hide It, and How to Protect Your Family  – The Latest Developments on Cell Phones and Children (15 minute q & a)

Janet Newton, (Founder and Executive Director of the EMR Policy Institute) – The Federal Communications Commission and Wireless Safety Standards (15 minute q & a)
 
Elizabeth Kelley (founder of the Electromagnetic Safety Alliance) leads discussion on unified messaging to Congress and our Administration
 
 
 
 
 
 

 


Tom Wilson, electrical engineer, gave an in-depth presentation about the environmental health risks of smart meters and the smart grid infrastructure.


 
 
 
Thursday, October 6
 
The second day concentrated on the how-to and actually meeting with Congressional staff and Committees. Jim Turner, a seasoned Washington, DC insider provided guidance before scheduled meetings with Congressional staff. U.S. attendees in DC went to Congressional offices to share their perspectives in meetings.
 
Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) gave a wonderful speech about how if we see a danger, or even a potential danger to human health, we must act to protect health instead of protecting profits.
 
Individuals and 26 activist organizations came together to express their concerns during the Wireless Safety Summit and delivered a core message to Congressional staff.
